Coimbatore: In an effort to emphasize the importance of wearing helmets, the Coimbatore traffic police have planned to distribute 3,000 free helmets to the public. This initiative is part of their ongoing road safety awareness campaign aimed at making Coimbatore an accident-free city.
As part of this drive, the city traffic police, in collaboration with Shriram Finance and Elixir Foundation, will distribute helmets to sanitation workers and other two-wheeler riders. In the first phase of the initiative, 500 sanitation workers received free helmets last week.
Authorities Stress the Need for Helmet Usage
Speaking about the initiative, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, Ashok Kumar, stated:
“Everyone riding a two-wheeler must wear a helmet. Many riders involved in road accidents last year survived because they were wearing helmets. To reinforce this message and create awareness, we are distributing 3,000 helmets for free.”
A few months ago, the traffic police had also distributed free helmets at Lakshmi Mills Junction, urging two-wheeler riders to follow helmet safety regulations.-AirMedia Broadcast
