From the first move to checkmate, every step led to victory

18 September 2026 : The U-14 Northern Command Inter-APSs Chess Competition was held at APS Nagrota on 18 September 2026, bringing together young and talented chess players from six Army Public Schools of Cluster A. The competition provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their strategic thinking, concentration, patience, discipline, and sporting spirit.

The final rounds witnessed intense and exciting contests. In the Boys' Final, APS Udhampur faced APS Srinagar, while the *Girls' Final* was contested between APS Udhampur and APS Nagrota. Displaying remarkable focus, teamwork, confidence and determination, *APS Udhampur emerged victorious in both the Boys and Girls sections*.

The tournament concluded on a high note, with the *APS Udhampur Boys securing 9 points* and the *Girls securing 7 points*. This outstanding double victory brought immense pride and glory to the school and reflected the student's dedication, discipline, perseverance and growing excellence in the game of chess.

The School Principal, Dr Jyoti Bedyal has extended her heartiest congratulations to the winners and their coaches on this remarkable achievement. Their success is a testament to the school’s continued commitment to nurturing sporting talent and promoting a culture of excellence.
