Celebrating Champions Beyond the Scoreboard!” National Sports Day Celebration – APS Udhampur

29 August 2026 : Army Public School Udhampur celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The programme was graced by Ms Geeta Devi, Principal APS Akhnoor, as the Chief Guest, along with Dr Jyoti Bedyal, Principal APS Udhampur and Ms Reena Sharma, Vice Principal.

The celebration commenced with the lighting of the Torch by the Chief Guest. Children enthusiastically participated in the *Run for Fitness*, promoting the message of health and fitness. Various events including *50m, 100m, 200m, 4×100m Relay, Tug of War, Hockey and Volleyball match* were conducted.

A total of 270 students participated in the sports events.

The felicitation ceremony was held in the school auditorium where prizes were presented to the winners.

The Chief Guest delivered an inspiring and motivational address, encouraging students to pursue sports with dedication and discipline. The celebration concluded with a strong message of fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship and holistic development.

In addition to this, to commemorate National Sports Day in honour of Major Dhyan Chand, the NCC Air Wing Cadets of APS Udhampur also conducted various sports and fitness activities like Lecture on National Sports Day, Volleyball Match,Run for Fitness, Refreshment Distribution Refreshments were distributed among the participating cadets after completion of the activities.

The programme was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation of 35 cadets under the supervision of ANO Deepmala Kotwal and PI Staff.

Our school Principal, Dr Jyoti Bedyal has extended her heart warming appreciation to the entire Sports Department, ANO NCC AIR Wing and PI staff for their commendable performance during the Sports Day. She lauded the dedicated efforts of the sports faculty in providing students with opportunities to showcase their sporting talents, participate in various activities, and embrace the true spirit of sportsmanship.
