Call to Foster People-Centric and Socially Committed Radio Culture

Thrissur: Fr. Davis Chiramel, Chairman of the Kidney Federation of India, called upon community radio stations to foster a people-centric and socially committed radio culture.

He was speaking while inaugurating the Annual General Body Meeting of the Community Radio Association of Kerala (CRAK) – Kerala Chapter, held in Thrissur. He noted that radio programmes would gain wider acceptance and social impact when they actively involve both children and adults and address the needs and aspirations of local communities.

A practical training session was also organized on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in community radio, demonstrating how AI technologies can be utilized for programme recording, content preparation, production and broadcasting workflows.

The technical programme highlighted the importance of continuous technical training and professional maintenance to ensure reliable and sustainable broadcasting operations at community radio stations.

CRAK Kerala Chapter Office Bearers Elected

The annual election of the Community Radio Association of Kerala Chapter was also conducted during the meeting.

Fr. Bijo Thomas, representing Radio Mattoli, Wayanad, was elected as the President, while Suraj Raj, representing Hello Radio, Thrissur, was elected as the Secretary of the Community Radio Association of Kerala Chapter.

The newly elected office bearers will work towards strengthening cooperation among community radio stations, promoting technical capacity building, supporting professional development, and further advancing the role of community radio as a platform for local communities and social development.
